Philosophy: Kiss Me... Tonight

One of the items I picked up this weekend haul was Philosophy's Kiss Me Tonight ($20 for .3oz), which is an intense lip treatment.

I have pretty big lips, and during fall/winter they go a little haywire so I was hoping that this would be the fix that they needed. I also heard good things about the Philosophy brand and always wanted to try some of their products.

The product itself is a peachy, fleshy color, but it goes on clear. It has the consistency of Vaseline, maybe a little thicker and more sticky instead of slippery. Initially, it felt good on my lips but so far, I haven't really seen/felt any difference that the website boasts.
works on contact to soften roughness, relieve dryness and soothe seriously dry lips. this luxurious lip treatment helps reduce the appearance of fine lines, adds shape and definition, and restores a healthy rosy appearance
woah woah woah, works on contact? really now? Yeah, didn't see any of that happening, and I was pretty sure my lips were "seriously dry". I also did not experience or see the reduction of fine lines, nor a rosy appearance. A reviewer on the site said that although they didn't experience any immediate results, her lips were noticeably softer in 3 weeks. That sounds believable to me, but not instantaneous results like the website's description. Other reviews were dissatisfied with the product, so I'm glad that it's not just me who disagrees with the "greatness" of the product.

Product grade: C
not too bad, but nothing great either. Instead of paying $20 for this little jar, I'd rather reach for my Rosebud Strawberry Lip Balm ($7 for .8oz), it works great, i get even more than DOUBLE the product, and it does the same job.

I'll give this product a 3-week test period, and report back with the results. Looks like I won't be kissing anyone tonight, not with these lips!

weekend haul!

This weekend I headed over to my mall to Macy's to get my brows done at the Benefit Brow Bar. Have any of you guys tried them out? Only specific Benefit Counters have them. It used to be $18 for a brow shaping/arch session, but now they've upped the prices to $20 (don't forget to tip!) I know it's pretty steep for just brows, but they do a good job almost everytime (except for this one esthetician)so for me, it's worth it because I have very thin, light, sparse brows, and they're hard to work with!

It may sound a little weird, but my favooriteee part is I get the area in-between my eyebrows (where the uni-brow would be, if i had one) waxed. I just love the feeling of the warm wax there and that area hurts the least when she pulls off the cloth strips, and then BAM silky smoooth. I love it.

ANYWAYY.. so I was only supposed to get my brows done and MAYBE get MACs "Brave" Lipstick... but that trip to the mall turned into a mini-haul instead...

My first stop was Sephora! I'm in LOVE with the Barbie for Stila collection, but they ran out of the eyeshadow palatte! :( I also wanted to check out Korres Cherry Lip Kisses, which was on my 'WANT' list after I saw Temptalia's swatches and review.. but I dunno if its her camera, or her lighting, but they definitely didn't look that cute in person, in the tube or on my lips. The only one that I liked was Fuchsia, the other colors looked really bland and even almost brown-ish in the tube, so I passed.

Next stop was MAC. Omygoodness, because of the Mischief, Magic and Mirth release, that store was jam-packed! I tried to ask one of the associates to assist me in finding "Brave", but she was in the middle of something. After aimlessly looking around for awhile, I decided to head over to the MAC counter in Nordstroms instead. While I was waiting for the MUA's attention, I tried to look for "Brave" by myself but I kept grabbing "Snob" instead. Snob is more of a pinky nude lip, while brave is more of a fleshy toned nude lip. I had to decide between the two and I got "brave"! (Review & swatches coming soon!) I also got enchanted by their new holiday eye palette "Sorceress" and bought that one too!!

While I was leaving Nordies, I passed by the Philosophy counter and also picked up their "Kiss Me Tonight" - intense lip treatment (See next post for review!)

Last but not least, I made my way back to Macys cos I parked there.. and did you guys notice something else knocked off my want list? Let me give you a hint, it looks like this:

YEAH. I got the Urban Decay Book of Shadows: VOL 2
It retails for $48 but I had a $10 Macy's coupon and surprisingly cosmetics weren't excluded! Yayyy me!

Although I saved some on the UD palette, my poor, poor wallet! At least I'll make it worthwhile by posting up pics/reviews for you guys! :) Book of Shadows/Sorceress/Brave review will come later this week (sorry guys I have a chem lab report to do!) so keep an eye out!

under construction!

Hi guys!

My apologies for the unfinished site. I liked my old layout, but unfortunately it was brought to my attention that posting comments weren't cooperating, so I switched to a new layout! I might still change it, and none of the links up there work, so please bear with me! Man, I used to be so good at this HTML stuff back in middle school (new xanga layout every 2 weeks baby!), but now I have to resort to getting them from sites and tweaking them to my liking. Hopefully things will be 100% soon!

xoxo,

edit: Okay, so the links up there work, its just that I don't have enough posts X__X for all of them to have something, sorry guys! As for commenting, you have to click on the post's name (so you see just THAT post) and the box should be at the bottom. Hope this works out for everyone! The last thing I need to do is just edit the banner a little cos it just says "ANYTHING".

MAC winter 2009 collection

So promo photos are out for MAC's winter 2009 collection (releasing in the US Nov 25 freestanding/pro stores ONLY).

I was on my usual makeup website browsing routine when I was on Temptalia and she had a photo of it:

Isn't that lipstick just absolutely GORGEOUS?! From Temptalia's site I believe it is "Prive" described as a "creamy light blue pink". This collection is part of the MAC couture line, so the products are more expensive (ex "Prive is $22 instead of the usual $14 for a lipstick). And OF COURSE I am a huge HUGE sucker for packaging, and although I like MAC's simplicity, this vintage, baroque decor is a must-have on my list!

I was never a huge fan of lipstick when I was younger because I associated them with age, and that they smelled kinda funny... cos I always tried my mommy's Clinique/Estee Lauder lippies. It wasn't until I bought my own lipstick which was MACs "Most Popular", part of the Hello Kitty collection that I realized lipstick can smell and look good! Now I'm addicted :)

So excited for this new collection! For more info, hit up Temptalia's page, its one of my faves!

ps. If it's not baroque, don't fix it! (haha, i just had to!)

hello kitty mania!

I am a huge, and I mean HUGE hello kitty fan. A majority of my items are HK. I have clothing, pencil boxes, my school bag, watches, pen/pencils, stapler... hello kitty toothbrush (too cute to use), hello kitty chopsticks (from a friend<3)

So of COURSE my eyes nearly popped out of their sockets when I saw this picture on my facebook feed (yeah, i'm a fan of HK on fb). So from far away it looks like a mosaic of some sort of Hello Kitty... but if you take a closer look, you see that this piece of art, by Jason Mercier, is made COMPLETELY of hello kitty products!

Here, take a closer look:

COOOOL huh?! It's like a game of "I Spy". I spy, with my little asian eyes... a fork, spoon, scissors, gluestick, cookie cutters, mittens, a water bottle, tupperware, stationary, tape, figurines, bubblegum (yum i love sanrio gum!), hair barrette etc!

Isn't it amazing?! What do you see?
